Javier is the General Manager of the Nu Hotel. He is a native New Yorker. Javier’s formative adolescent years were spent on the Lower East Side where he was able to benefit from all of the inner city programs the Henry Street Settlement had to offer. From the Head Start pre-school program to after-school programs offering homework help Henry Street was a part of his life. Henry Street provided him with experiences he would have never been exposed to otherwise.

VK has been giving to charity and helping his communities nearly his entire life. In fact, VK grew up with the Salvation Army in India, where he and his family were active in the organization. Because of his in depth and personal relationship with this organization, VK has been a tremendous influence forOpening Doors To Prosperity and we look up to him. Among the great things VK does, at least once a month, he, along with a number of members from his Church, help Philadelphia’s homeless.

Karla Lyon has been active in charitable works most of her life. As a youth, Karla was an active member of the Kiwanis’s Key Club and Girl Scouts. In Florida, she teamed up with CASA, a battered women’s shelter. Food and clothing drives were done twice a year in an effort to help the women and children of domestic violence. In New Orleans, she led an Easter basket contest among hotel departments in the hotel she was running.
